@@user-yr8jj5ut7z unfortunately we have to work with what we’re given now . The traction today, appeals to a worldwide audience. I recorded a 47 leaving Dawlish the other day, hardly gets a view , record an 800/2 and I get a couple of thousand.. it’s a no brainer and I’ve had half a million views so far this year.

@@andybyrne50 I must admit I like the exBR diesels still in service. I took a photo of D1924 “Crewe Diesel Depot” at Edinburgh Waverley Station last year. Lots of ex BR thumpers still around!

@@Demun1649 They are , but I’m afraid the government went for the cheaper option and now we’re stuck with them . The HST was a much more reliable and comfortable option down here , but it all comes down to cost and appeasement of the tree huggers

@@andybyrne50 I can't agree with that. Why blame the tree huggers? Surely, Hitachi won the contract by giving large bribes to government ministers, who signed a contract for the trains to be built IN BRITAIN. Then Hitachi, being insular and Japanese, built a factory in Japan, employed 9,000 people. Then they built Newton Aycliffe, where the trains were meant to be built, but reduced it to a kit-building workshop, employing 734 people, not the promised 5,600. There they built the Class 800/801/802s from KITS sent from Japan. Japan built the trains, took them apart, and sent kits to Britain. And the government never enforced the contract. The unfortunate workers at NA had to build kits of inferior workmanship into trains! The build quality was, and is, inferior to every other long-distance train in Britain. They should have been built by Alstom.

The tunnel was originally built back in the 1800s for isambard kingdom Brunels railway. It was a cliff face prior to that !

Yes, a tour train . The class of locomotive was very popular in the West Country throughout the 60s/70s

The whole seawall is like that along the Teignmouth seafront and also the Dawlish,from beyond the station. Very rarely have any incidents on the line ,apart from at stations and crossings .

@@andybyrne50I must admit to being shocked at that. Yes as adults we know better than to trespass on the railway but children and young adults don’t always have as an acute sense of danger. A fence is only a deterrent to trespassing but it does go a long way to reducing the risk of an incident which Network Rail could be held liable for.

@@iainmacleod4007 I think because it’s so famous and probably filmed more than any other railway,it will always remain like that ,although Mother Nature has tried its best to alter it .

This isn’t Dawlish Warren and the the section that you’re talking about is just out of shot in this film. The seawall has only had one collapse and that was 2014 and probably 80 years previously from that .
